The Buffalo Jazz Composers Workshop will perform new works and original compositions on June 15 as part of the Kenan Center's Jazz at the Taylor series. The concert starts at 7:30 p.m. at Taylor Theater and is the last one of the season before a summer break.
Founded by saxophonist Kelly Bucheger, Buffalo Jazz Composers Workshop features some of the most celebrated musicians and educators in the region: Tim Clarke, trumpet; Nelson Rivera, saxophones and percussion; Jared Tinkham, guitar; Alec Dube, vibraphone; Joseph Goehle on bass; and John Bacon on drums.
Taylor Theater, which seats 153 patrons, was nominated as Best Jazz Venue in the 5th annual Jazz Buffalo Poll. Bucheger, who has performed many times at the Taylor, has great things to say about the venue: “The Taylor Theater is my favorite new space for jazz in Western New York — a beautiful, intimate, and inspiring setting with great sound: a real gem!”
Tickets for the show are $15 for Kenan Center members and $20 for the general public. Purchase them: online at Ticketleap; in person at the Kenan Center business office, 433 Locust St.; or charge by phone, 433-2617.
