The identity of Lock Tender No. 10 seated on the staircase at the Flight of Five remnants was revealed as well — he is William Crowley, according to the Locks Heritage District which made the announcement during ceremonies at the Erie Canal Discovery Center on Saturday morning.

Flowers were laid on the statues of late 19th century lock tenders on Saturday morning following the Lock Tenders Tribute. The statues were created by artist Susan Giessler based on a photo taken by F.B. Clench in 1897.Â
