Court sig

Kadesha Maye of Niagara Falls admitted Thursday to slashing a woman's face with a box-cutter during a Dec. 13 fight outside her Lincoln Place home.

Maye, 24, told Niagara County Court Judge Matthew J. Murphy III the fight began when two women, one armed with a small knife, attacked her following an argument. Maye, who was also injured in the fight, was charged with first- and second-degree assault, while the victim was not.

Maye accepted a plea offer to one count of second-degree assault, which carries a maximum sentence of 7 years in prison. Murphy promised he would not sentence Maye to more than 3 1/2 years and said he would consider placing her on probation.

Maye will return before Murphy for sentencing on Feb. 28.
