An almost three decade-old family-owned and operated business will be closing its doors at the end of the month.
Creek Side Sales and Service, 6989 South Transit Road, will shut its doors on March 31. It was opened on Feb. 1, 1992.
David Leising, one of the owners of the business along with his wife, Lynn, said they have decided they will be retiring at the end of the month.
Leising said it was a "tough" decision for him and Lynn to retire and that they have been contemplating it for awhile.
He is excited for retirement, though, describing it as "another chapter" of his life. Leising plans to do some volunteer work, consulting and "spoiling" his grandchildren. They also plan to stay in the area.
Creek Side Sales and Service, which has a client list of 15,000 people, sells power equipment from Cub Cadet, Stihl and Mahindra. They sell the vehicles and service of them.
Leising said his message to the people of Lockport is, "It's been a pleasure doing business with them."
"We've developed a lot of personal relationships with our customers," Leising added.
Leising said they will try to return the most of the new stuff to the manufacture.
"Now we're just trying to return everything and exit the business as cleanly and efficiently as possible," Leising added.
While the business officially closes at the end of the month, there will be a liquidation auction on June 1, which will auction off business items like shelving and signage material.
