school lockdown

The police presence at North Park Junior High School on Monday morning.

Lockport Police Department interim Police Chief Steven Preisch says police are finishing up their searches of three different schools in the Lockport City School District, and he expects school to resume shortly.

Lockport High School, Lockport High School West and North Park Junior High School were given "shelter in place" orders after the district received an anonymous tip regarding a bomb threat.

Preisch said the tip appeared "unfounded."

A robocall sent to district parents notified them of the "shelter in place" first being lifted at LHS, and then shortly after LHS West and North Park had their orders lifted.

District parents were first notified about the tip through an early Monday robocall.
