ATHOL SPRINGS, N.Y. — A pair of DeSales Catholic Middle School student-athletes earned first-place finishes recently at the annual Diocesan Outdoor Track Meet.
Eighth grader Henry Murphy placed first in the long jump event, while sixth grade roadrunner Isabella Watson earned a first-place finish in the in the girls dash event.
Also for the Knights, seventh grader Taylor Allen was second and fifth grader Arden Anterline was third in the girls dash in their respective age group divisions.
The annual track and field meet brings together the top athletes from 16 different Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Buffalo. Students ages 9 and above compete in 4 events — dash, relay, long jump and softball throw.
DeSales coach Jason Pearl said of his team, "Our kids represented our faith, family and school extremely well. They competed hard, were great sports and played fair. I could not be more proud of all of their efforts and team spirit."
The Knights also secured top finishes in the follow events:
• 14-Under Boys 5th — Cameron Gilson, Henry Murphy, Grant Harrer, Cameron Kreger
• 12-Under Girls 5th — Isabella Watson, Isabella Pearl, Camryn Becken, Taylor Allen
• 11-U Boys — Cameron Gilson 6th
• 13-U Boys - Cameron Kreger 5th
• 13-U Girls — Natalie Killion 4th
